With great excitement, I ask you to save the dates for two of our school's annual fundraisers that will be making a return this school year. This year's Parents Prom will be held the evening of June 4th at the Franklin Plaza. The 18th Annual L. Scott Cuomo Golf Tournament will return to Van Patten Golf Course on June 24th. You can find information on how to register for both of these events below in this email.
At both of these events, we will be recognizing our St. Mary's School Sponsors. We have been so fortunate to provide a safe environment for in-person learning for our families this entire school year. However, doing so has come at a great financial cost. Our St. Mary's School Sponsors play a very important role in maintaining the academic excellence that our school is known for. I would like to invite our families and supporters in the community to consider sponsoring our school. Please take a moment to read my letter to potential sponsors and share this electronic response form with any business who might be willing to support St. Mary's School.
In our continued efforts to keep the cost of a St. Mary's education affordable for all families, any sponsorships secured by a St. Mary's family will result a tuition credit for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your consideration and your support of St. Mary's School.
I would like to provide you with a few updates and reminders below:
Due to a lack of emergency days used, we will not be in session on Friday, May 28th. We hope our families have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
Please send back the sunscreen permission slip to apply sunscreen ASAP. This permission will be needed for the several outdoor end of the year events. Students are allowed to bring sunscreen to school with permission. If you need another copy you can find one here.
The Diocese of Albany Catholic Schools achieved system accreditation from AdvancED in 2016. In November 2018, AdvancED changed its name to Cognia as a result of a merger. Currently, our twenty-one schools fall under the umbrella of system accreditation through Cognia and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. This designation serves as an acknowledgement that our schools meet a certain standard of quality worthy of accreditation.
We are preparing for a reaccreditation visit in the Spring of 2022 and our school will be involved with the process. This continuous improvement journey has been going on since 2016, but you will notice an increase in activities over the next twelve months in preparation of the visit. At different times between now and next spring you may be asked to be involved in the process in different ways. You should also be aware that all schools have at least one representative on the Diocesan Accreditation Steering Committee (DASC). Our DASC member works with me to ensure that the process at our school remains on the correct path. You can always speak with me or our DASC member if you have questions about the accreditation process.
Our ask today is that you take some time to complete a brief survey, which can be found at the following link:
https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/164528/p36650 The purpose of this survey is to find out what your family’s beliefs and opinions are about engagement with our school. All respondents will be participating anonymously, and we ask you to complete the assessment as honestly as you can. I thank you in advance for your participation.
