St. Marys Catholic School of Waterford

A Faith-Filled Community

The best words to describe St. Mary's are those of a grandparent in our community:

"When you walk into St. Mary's, you feel love.”

We couldn't say it any better than that!

This is the result of teaching the Gospel and the core values of our Catholic Christian faith. Together with parents, we teach these tenets in and outside the classroom. Our curriculum includes religious instruction; however, we are most proud of the many ways we promulgate our faith in our community. We model for our students the characteristics of our faith, love of neighbor, and service to others. Walk our halls and you will see signs and symbols of our faith. Watch our students and you will see evidence of our faith in the way they treat each other.

Whether our students are visiting seniors at Van Schoonhoven Senior Center, organizing a haunted house to raise funds for a homeless shelter, or assisting at the St. Vincent De Paul Food pantry, they are living and practicing our Gospel values in the form of service to others.

Sacramental preparation is part of our second grade curriculum, as we ready them to receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Eucharist.

"You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your  mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." — Matthew 22
